The Manager of Commercial Underwriting and Support at COUNTRY Financial is responsible for Commercial underwriting and activities for Market 4, Commercial support and activities for all agency markets and providing direction as aligned with COUNTRY's corporate strategies. You will be responsible for maintaining overall accountability for Commercial underwriting and support and coordinate related activities between the underwriting department, the agency force and applicable business partners. You'll focus on establishing and maintaining an efficient and effective workflow, to maximize productivity and maintain high quality service to the agency force and our customers. As the Manager of Commercial Underwriting for Market 4, you will support a large volume of Commercial business and activity, including large accounts and diverse risk types. This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL. How does a Manager of Commercial Underwriting and Support make an impact? Develops and implements action plans to support growth and profit objectives in cooperation with commercial underwriting, marketing, agency and claims management. Participates in and provides feedback in the rate revision process and communicates revision details to other impacted areas across the company. Partners with Information Technology Systems (ITS) on system planning and prioritization of projects, including analysis needed to enhance products, services and technology specific to commercial lines. Provides regular reports to management on performance and development of each employee as well as the underwriting team. Establishes and maintains an efficient and effective workflow to maximize productivity and maintain high quality service to the agency force and our customers. Establishes measurable standards and evaluates underwriting unit and individual employee performance. Provides regular reports to management on performance and development of each employee as well as the underwriting team. Provides state and district-specific communications and coordinates underwriting training and mentoring programs, develops best practices and conducts reviews to ensure consistency and quality is maintained by all underwriters. Researches, develops, and communicates programs to improve financial representative confidence and drive distribution success. Provides leadership and mentoring to commercial staff across multiple departments. Establishes measurable standards and evaluates underwriting unit and individual employee performance. Conducts interview and selection processes, salary increase planning, and performance evaluation administration to achieve optimal performance. Develops bench strength and succession planning for the specialty departments. Creates an environment conducive to personal growth, training and development of employees. Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas. Maintains current contact information for all employees in applicable areas and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster. Education equivalent to graduation from college, preferably with a degree in insurance, business, or another related field. Eight or more years underwriting experience, including at least 2 years of proven management experience. Proven communication, interpersonal, collaboration and presentation/speaking skills, including experience with process and change management, as well as proven experience in relationship building with our agency partners. Exhibits urgency to deliver results today while positioning for tomorrow. Typically requires bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of property/casualty insurance experience (or equivalent, such as 10 years of experience or master's degree and 6 years of experience) and two years management experience.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
