ResponsibilitiesProvide office-related business support services including, but not limited to:
scheduling, greeting patients, checking patients in/out, taking phone messages or transferring calls, scanning and attaching in electronic medical records insurance cards and other patient records, and collecting and documenting patient copayments.
Prepare for following day appointments by reviewing patient chart and identifying care gaps, obtaining outside records, and gathering all necessary paperwork.
Perform rooming of health center patients.
This may include, but is not limited to:
greeting patients, escorting patients to exam room, interview patients for the purpose of gathering health history, hospital history, dental history and current medications.
Accurately and timely record information gathered in appropriate places in EMR.
Accurately take and document vital signs.
Be familiar with Vitals Section of CFHC Policy & Procedure Handbook associated normal and abnormal ranges.
Know when to seek assistance from nurses or providers when vitals fall outside of acceptable ranges.
Prepare examination and treatment rooms with proper procedure set up of instruments, materials and equipment.
Assist with inventory management and stocking of treatment rooms, dental laboratory and sterilization areas.
Assist in updating and maintaining client dental records based on the dentist's observations and evaluations.
Assist the dentist in the performance of procedures using four-handed dental techniques.
Demonstrating mastery of these techniques and procedures in accordance with the Illinois Dental Practice Act.
Educate patients and parents of patients on maintaining proper oral health and the importance of proper dental hygiene and care.
Prevent the spread of infection and disease by practicing Universal Precautions on all patients at all times.
Practice proper technique for donning/doffing of PPE.
Sterilize and/or disinfect, as appropriate, all dental operatories, surfaces, instruments and equipment in accordance with CDC Infection Control Guidelines for Dental Offices and CHS practices.
Be familiar with (and able to apply) information found in Chestnut Family Health Center's Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook, Lab Manual, and Safety and Infection Control Manual.
Actively participate in staff meetings, team huddle, QI meetings, staff development/in-service programs etc.

Actively participate in program development activities to improve services to patients and educate staff on relevant topics.
Complete with supervisor and pass all identified elements on Dental Assistant Competency Checklist.
Maintain CPR certification.
Complete all Relias trainings by deadlines assigned.
Assist Chestnut in complying with all applicable standards as required by HRSA, the Joint Commission and other applicable accrediting organizations, licensing bodies and payers.
Training of other staff as directed by Dental Manager.
Promote Chestnut's culture of customer service excellence through the adherence to Chestnut's behavioral standards for customer service.
Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all organizational information gained in the course of performing job responsibilities including, but not limited to, financial and consumer information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsPosition requires a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Minimum of one (1) year experience as a clinical Dental Assistant preferred.
Experience in general dentistry working with patients across the ages preferred.
Basic computer skills and knowledge working with an electronic dental records system and digital x-rays preferred.
Willingness to work in an integrated primary care and behavioral health care environment; willing to adhere to stated program and documentation protocols; willingness to work with underprivileged population.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
